Acne Rosacea

Most people know that acne rosacea is an unattractrive condition, where the skin thickens andAcne Rosacea becomes very red, lumpy and swells.

Acne Rosacea usually occurs in adults over 30, and certain lifestyle changes are usually needed for the condition to improve. Drinking alcohol, eating spicy foods, and extreme temperatures are factors that can make Acne Rosacea considerably worse.

In order to have the best possible chance of controlling our rosacea, we have to have a good understanding of why the condition occurs.

When signs of rosacea start to show, at first we are usually just a little surprised at why our face looks redder than usual. I thought I must have developed an allergy to something, maybe the soap I was using, as I was also outbreaks of small white pimples.

I soon noticed if I drank an alcoholic drink (especially wine) or ate certain types of foods, my facial redness got worse.

I went to the doctor, who offered me some antibiotics for the pimples and explained I had rosacea. I took the antibiotics, but when the course was finished, my condition soon returned. I certainly did not want to take antibiotics forever, so I began to research the condition myself.

I found that rosacea effects both men and women, and usually after the age of 30. There are several factors that will make aggrevate rosacea, as I have mentioned alcohol is a big culprit, as are spicy foods, caffiene laden drinks such as coffee or coke, extreme weather temperatures, and certain medications will also trigger attacks, as can stress.

If you think you may be suffering from Rosacea, it is a good idea to keep a food journal for a few weeks. make a note of everything you eat and drink, and when an outbreak occurs. You will probably soon see a pattern emerging, and therefore be able to avoid or ccut down on the foods that are causing attacks.

Rosacea symptoms can appear in several forms:

• Telangiectasia, is the formation of small red lines on the face. These small spider like veins are enlarged blood vessels underneath the skin.

• Erythema, is when the face or neck 'flushes'. This will occur when the blood vessels expand to accommodate the increasedflow of blood. During the early stages of rosacea, the redness will come and go, but as time goes on, eventually will become permanant.

• The formation of pimples or "papules". Rosacea pimples are usually small lumpy red pimples, or very small white bumps.

• The face may swell. Yhis is commonly known as edema.

• Your face may itch, or 'burn'.

• Your nose may become enlarged, this occurs more commonly in older men, and is know as Rhinophyma.

• Many people with rosacea also develop cular rosacea. The eyelids become dry, itchy and inflamed along with conjunctivitis.

Nobody knows exactly what causes a person to begin having rosacea attacks, but if you suspect you may have symptoms, please realize you don't just have to put up with it.

There are steps you can take to having a beautiful skin again.
