Rosacea Skin
Rosacea Skin is an unsightly condition that causes the skin to redden, swell
and develop lumps.
Rosacea (pronounced roh-zay-sha) is a very common condition.
In fact it affects about 15 million people in the US alone, but many of them do not realise the condition
affecting their skin has a name and there are rosacea skin treatments available. Rosacea can be controlled very
well, it is vital that people learn what is causing the condition, as it can cause emphatic psychological, social
and occupational problems if left untreated.

More Rosacea Skin Care Facts
Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin disorder which affects 15 million people in the
US and is also known as "acne rosacea." It mainly affects people aged over the age of 35. Signs of rosacea are
severe facial redness, damaged blood vessels visible to the eye on the nose and cheeks, and a bumpy, pimply
completion. The name of acne rosacea is misleading, as sufferers do not have blackheads or
whiteheads typical of acne sufferers. If rosacea dry skin affects men, their nose can often become red and
enlarged, in addition to changes of the cheek skin.
There are many factors that can aggravate rosacea. These include extreme temperatures, a poor diet and too much
alcohol.
A rosacea flare-up usually begins with the flushing of the cheeks and nose. Although there is no cure for
rosacea there is treatment and methods of hiding the redness of the skin and preventing flare-ups.
If you use a skin cleanser that contains oil or menthol, eucalyptus, salicylic acid and fragrance it
will very likely harm the skin’s natural PH balance. Patients should use oil-free, soap-free
and fragrance-free cleansers, which will not act harshly on the skin. Taking care of the skin should be practised
twice a day: in the morning and before bedtime, to remove oil and dirt and therefore give the skin a chance to
regenerate. There are many rosacea skin products on the market designed not to
aggravate the skin.
Make up can be used, but your products should be oil-free and very light. Using make-up is beneficial
for disguising the redness of the face, but should not be used as an alternative treatment.
Aftershave should be avoided.
For protecting the skin sufferers are recommended to only use natural fiber clothing, such
as cotton or silk, as they will not cause irritation when getting into contact with the face.
Be careful not to use rough materials when drying the skin. Pat the skin dry with a soft cotton cloth, or leave it
to dry naturally.
